Lapuan Kankurit KUOHU Large Bath Towel (Beige White) - XL
KUOHU (Finnish for “surf”), the first pattern designed for Lapuan Kankurit by Maëlis Ray, draws inspiration from the movement of water, waves, and the texture of sea foam.
Maëlis Ray is a French textile designer who was born and raised in Lyon, the city known for its silk weaving tradition and the invention of the jacquard machine. Lapuan Kankurit discovered Maëlis at the University of Borås’ Swedish School of Textiles and were immediately impressed with her talents and keen interest in woven textiles. As the judges of the final project jury, we wanted to reward her and offered her a cash prize or a trip to Lapua to visit our weaving mill. She chose the trip to Lapua. Spring 2024 she came all the way from Lyon to Lapua to visit our weaving mill.
We weave KUOHU towels from highly absorbent linen–Tencel. This lightweight, quick-drying towel is a practical, beautiful, and environmentally friendly choice. In the material developed by Lapuan Kankurit, absorbent linen is combined with Tencel. Tencel is a European innovation made from wood fibre using environmentally responsible processes. By combining these two fibres, Lapuan Kankurit has created a wonderfully soft and highly absorbent towel material that takes the bathing experience to a whole new level.
Its large size doesn’t mean it takes up too much space. This towel fits effortlessly into a cupboard or travel bag, making it the ideal companion for both home and vacation.
It is large enough to lay on, and you can even get dressed in its cover if necessary. The towel’s absorbency is activated already during production through a washing treatment, so it is ready to use right away. Linen–Tencel products are exceptionally absorbent and dry quickly, making them hygienic in everyday use.
The towels are easy to combine with the super-popular TERVA towels.
