1616 / arita japan | MANZ Tea Cup (Brown)
MANZ Tea cup is designed by Danish ceramicist Richard Manz. Intertwining principles of Scandinavian design with Japanese craftsmanship, these intuitively appealing vessels honour Manz’s legacy and exhibit an ever-relevant approach to everyday objects. Available in partly unglazed and glazed versions, the cups embody a quiet refinement that transcends time.
1616/arita japan – Momota Touen 百田陶園 continues the celebrated legacy of Arita craftsmanship, a tradition that has shaped Japanese ceramic culture for over four centuries. Drawing inspiration from extensive research into historic Arita masterpieces, the renowned design duo Scholten & Baijings created the innovative Colour Porcelain series. Their work reinterprets classic forms through a modern European lens while honoring the precision and purity of traditional Japanese techniques.
Each piece features layered colour compositions expressed through subtle textures, translucent glazes, and refined tonal variations. These hues interact beautifully with the natural white of high-quality Arita porcelain, creating a harmonious balance between contemporary design and timeless craft. The result is tableware that is both functional and artful—thin, lightweight, and meticulously finished, showcasing the finest qualities of Japanese ceramic production.
Whether displayed as décor or enjoyed in daily use, each item reflects a deep appreciation for handmade beauty and cultural heritage. Thoughtfully designed and elegantly packaged, this collection also makes a perfect gift set for friends, family, or anyone who cherishes exquisite craftsmanship and the unique charm of Arita porcelain.
